Main information

The conference boat will depart from the pier Utkina Zavod’ (Уткина Заводь in Russian) in Saint Petersburg at 19:00 on 24 July 2016. The cruise route includes the Volga river, the fascinating lakes of the Russian North (the White Lake, Onega, and Ladoga), unique ensembles of Kizhi and Valaam, as well as some old Russian towns, such as Yaroslavl, Gorodets, and Nizhny Novgorod where it will arrive in the evening of July 30. The format of the Meeting and the informal atmosphere of the river cruise will stimulate active discussions and links between scholars and will give a brilliant opportunity for the participants to get familiar with the Russian history and nature. A social program for the participants and accompanying persons will include, besides sightseeing and tours on the cruise route, music concerts aboard, and symposium dinner.

The pier Utkina Zavod’ address is Oktyabrskaya naberezhnaya 31. Please come on board at least half an hour before the departure (18:30).

Free shuttle bus service

In St. Petersburg, you can take free shuttle bus from the underground station Proletarskaya (Пролетарская). The bus will operate from 15:30 to 18:30 on 24 July with 15 minutes intervals. The bus stop is located to the right from the exit of the station.

Alternatively, you can use public transport from Lomonosovskaya (Ломоносовская in Russian) underground station to get to Utkina Zavod’ pier. Here you can take a bus/mini-bus route nos. 476, 8, or 119. The bus stop is located next to the station exit at Babushkina Street. The routes 8 and 119 stop at about 600 m from the pier.route 476 runs along the Oktyabrskaya nabereznaya and stops at about 50 m from the piers. The stop name is Passazhirsky Port (Пассажирский порт in Russian).

Taxi from the airport to dock

Taking taxi from Pulkovo Airport is the easiest way of getting to Saint Petersburg and to the pier. Fully licensed Taxi Pulkovo counters are located at Arrivals hall on the first floor of the Terminal.
Please avoid using an unlicensed taxis.
You can pay for your taxi by credit card/cash at the Taxi Pulkovo counter or by cash to the driver at the end of the ride. If you need a receipt, please ask for it at the counter. The price of the ride from the airport to the pier is approximately 1000–1100 RUB.

Cruise schedule

The boat will arrive to Nizhny Novgorod at about 17:00 on 30 July. Then participants can take the transfer bus to the airport or railway station. For those who extend their stay in Nizhny Novgorod, a visit to the laboratories of the UNN Institute of Neuroscience is scheduled for 30 July. You can book your accommodation at the Hotel Oka located at walking distance from the University http://www.hoteloka.ru/.

About the boat

The Volga Neuroscience Meeting will be held on board a comfortable boat “Nizhny Novgorod”. Comfortable fourdecks boat “Nizhny Novgorod” – boat of the project 301, built in Germany. The boat “Nizhny Novgorod” is equipped with modern navigation equipment and can reach speeds of 26 km / h. The ship’s length – 125 m, width – 16.7 m, draft – 2.8 m. 259 – Number of places.
